TBL1XR1/RARA Fusion Gene

**Definition:** A fusion gene resulting from a chromosomal translocation with variable breakpoints on chromosome arms 3q and 17q that fuses exon 5 of the TBL1XR1 gene in frame with exon 3 of the RARA gene. This chromosomal aberration is associated with acute myeloid leukemia with a variant RARA translocation.
