**Definition:** A variant lineage of SARS coronavirus 2 that appears to have originated with a recombination event between the BA.5.2.3 lineage (B.1.1.529.5.2.3) and a sublineage of BA.2.75.3, specifically the CJ.1 lineage (BM.1.1.1.1; BA.2.75.3.1.1.1.1; B.1.1.529.2.75.3.1.1.1.1). This lineage has the same amino acid variations in the spike glycoprotein as BA.5 but harbors additional amino acid substitutions: K147E, W152R, F157L, I210V, G257S, G339H, R346T, G446S, N460K, F486P and F490S.
