Copper Cu 67 SAR-bombesin
**Semantic type:** Pharmacologic Substance
**Definition:** A radioconjugate composed of bombesin (BBN), a tetra-decapeptide that binds with high affinity to the gastrin-releasing peptide receptor (GRPR), linked by the sarcophagine chelator (SAR) and radiolabeled with the beta-emitting radioisotope copper Cu 67, with potential antineoplastic activity. Upon administration of copper Cu 67 SAR-BBN, the BBN moiety targets and binds to GRPR, thereby delivering a cytotoxic dose of beta radiation to GRPR-expressing tumor cells. GRPR, also called bombesin receptor 2 (BB2), is a seven-transmembrane G protein-coupled receptor belonging to the bombesin receptor family. It is overexpressed in certain types of cancers.
**Synonyms:** - 67Cu-SAR-BBN - 67Cu-SAR-bombesin - Copper Cu 67 SAR-BBN - SAR-BBN CU-67
