Ersodetug

**Semantic type:** Amino Acid, Peptide, or Protein|Immunologic Factor|Pharmacologic Substance

**Definition:** A fully human immunoglobulin G2 (IgG2) monoclonal antibody directed against the insulin receptor (INSR), that may potentially be used to treat hyperinsulinism. Upon administration, ersodetug targets and allosterically binds to the insulin receptor. This decreases INSR-mediated signaling by insulin or related hormones, such as insulin-like growth factor 2 (IGF-2), and decreases insulin activity, thereby treating hyperinsulinemic hypoglycemia. Overproduction of insulin and IGF-2 are associated with certain tumors, which leads to tumor hyperinsulinism and hypoglycemia.

**Synonyms:** - ERSODETUG - RZ 358 - RZ-358 - RZ358 - XOMA 358 - XOMA-358 - XOMA358
