**Definition:** Human RPS15 wild-type allele is located in the vicinity of 19p13.3 and is approximately 2 kb in length. This allele, which encodes 40S ribosomal protein S15, plays a role in the maturation and localization of the 40S ribosome. Aberrant expression of this gene may be associated with insulinomas, esophageal cancers and colon cancers.
