NPM1/MLF1 Fusion Gene

**Definition:** A fusion gene that results from a chromosomal translocation t(3;5)(q25;q34) which fuses the first 5 exons of the NPM1 gene in frame with the coding sequence of the MLF1 gene. This fusion is associated with both myelodysplastic syndrome and acute myeloid leukemia.
