**Semantic type:** Quantitative Concept

**Definition:** Fever (greater than or equal to 38C) with hypotension requiring multiple vasopressors (excluding vasopressin) and/or hypoxia requiring positive pressure (e.g., continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP), bilevel positive airway pressure (BiPAP), intubation, mechanical ventilation) not attributable to any other cause.
