**Definition:** Human LPIN2 wild-type allele is located in the vicinity of 18p11.31 and is approximately 128 kb in length. This allele, which encodes phosphatidate phosphatase LPIN2 protein, plays a role in the conversion of phosphatidic acid to diacylglycerol during triglyceride, phosphatidylcholine and phosphatidylethanolamine synthesis. Mutations in the gene are associated with Majeed syndrome.
