**Definition:** Human OLR1 wild-type allele is located in the vicinity of 12p13.2 and is approximately 18 kb in length. This allele, which encodes oxidized low-density lipoprotein receptor 1 protein, is involved in leukocyte adhesion and receptor/internalization activity for receptor for advanced glycation end products and oxidized low-density lipoprotein. Variations in the gene may be associated with myocardial infarction susceptibility and Alzheimer disease.
