**Definition:** Phytanoyl-CoA dioxygenase, peroxisomal (338 aa, ~39 kDa) is encoded by the human PHYH gene. This protein is involved in the 2-hydroxylation of racemic phytanoyl-CoA, isomers of 3-methylhexadecanoyl-CoA and a variety of other mono-branched 3-methylacyl-CoA esters and straight-chain acyl-CoA esters.
