Interferon-alpha Inducible Protein 10
**Semantic type:** Amino Acid, Peptide, or Protein|Immunologic Factor|Pharmacologic Substance
**Definition:** A member of the alpha-chemokine family, IP10 is secreted from macrophages, endothelial cells, and keratinocytes in response to IFN-gamma and activates a G protein coupled receptor. IP10 has homology to PFIV, BTG, CTAP-III, and peptides associated with cell proliferation, is a potent inhibitor of angiogenesis, inhibits bone marrow colony formation, has anti-tumor activity, is a chemoattractant for monocytes and T-cells, promotes T-cell adhesion to endothelial cells, and probably participates in chronic cell-mediated inflammatory reactions. The IP10 gene is a RAS signaling target. (from OMIM 147310 and NCI)
**Synonyms:** - IFN-Gamma-Inducible Protein-10 - IP-10 - NEX348
