Myelodysplastic Syndrome Complete Response Equivalent
**Semantic type:** Finding
**Definition:** An equivalent to complete response in the treatment of myelodysplastic syndrome in patients who do not have greater than or equal to 5% blasts before therapy initiation and therefore are not evaluable for complete response. It is defined in patients with bone marrow findings of less than 5% blasts at baseline though dysplasia may persist. Peripheral blood findings include: hemoglobin greater than or equal to 10 g/dL, platelets greater than or equal to 100 x 10^9/L, neutrophils greater than or equal to 1.0 x 10^9/L, 0% blasts. Additionally, there may be full cytogenetic clearance of baseline abnormalities (complete cytogenetic response).
