YAP1/MAML2 Fusion Gene

**Definition:** A fusion gene that results from a chromosomal rearrangment involving the long arm of chromosome 11 (11q) which fuses exon 1, 5 or 6 of the YAP1 gene to exon 2 of the MAML2 gene. This rearrangement may be associated with various neoplastic diseases including but not restricted to: nasopharyngeal carcinoma, NF2-wild type meningioma/schwannoma, ovarian carcinoma, poroma/porocarcinoma, metaplasic thymoma, and both retiform and composite hemangioendothelioma.
