Granzyme

**Semantic type:** Amino Acid, Peptide, or Protein|Enzyme

**Definition:** A family of serine endopeptidases. Members of this family are stored in the granules of cytotoxic T cells. Upon release of the granules, these enzymes enter infected cells where they can proteolytically stimulate caspase activation and initiate apoptosis.
