Kaolin-Heparinase Thromboelastography
**Semantic type:** Laboratory Procedure
**Definition:** A test of blood clotting efficiency that uses kaolin to stimulate the clotting process, but adds heparinase to neutralize all therapeutically administered unfractionated heparin (UFH) or low molecular weight heparin (LMWH). This shows the underlying clotting function while a patient is anticoagulated and produces the R-time (reaction time to form a detectable clot).
