This allele, which encodes protein transport protein Sec24D, is involved in the formation of vesicles derived from the endoplasmic reticulum membrane and the selection of vesicular cargo molecules for transport to the Golgi apparatus. Mutations in the gene are associated with Cole-Carpenter syndrome 2.
