Mifomelatide
**Semantic type:** Pharmacologic Substance
**Definition:** A synthetic cyclic peptide antagonist of melanocortin receptor 3 (MC3R) and melanocortin receptor 4 (MC4R), with potential anti-cachexic activity. Upon subcutaneous administration, mifomelatide selectively targets, binds to and inhibits MC3R and MC4R in the brain. This inhibits the MC3R- and MC4R-mediated signaling pathways, which may increase appetite and promote weight gain. MC3R and MC4R in the brain play key roles in the regulation of appetite and energy homeostasis.
**Synonyms:** - MIFOMELATIDE - TCMCB 07 - TCMCB-07 - TCMCB07
