**Definition:** Sialoadhesin (1709 aa, ~183 kDa) is encoded by the human SIGLEC1 gene. This protein plays a role in binding to sialic acid that mediates cell-cell adhesion in leukocytes and host cell binding to and endocytosis of viruses.
