**Definition:** A variant lineage of SARS coronavirus 2 that appears to have originated with a recombination event between the JN.1.4 lineage (BA.2.86.1.1.4; B.1.1.529.2.86.1.1.4) and a sublineage of XBB.1.9.1, likely the FL.15 lineage (XBB.1.9.1.15). This recombinant lineage has amino acid variations derived from JN.1.4 for the ORF1a, ORF1b, E, M and S (spike) proteins but harbors amino acid variations derived from FL.15 for the ORF7b and N proteins and the FL.15-derived variations G8* (stop gain) in the ORF8 protein and I5T in the ORF9b protein.
