Allogeneic Anti-CD5 CAR-CD28zeta T-lymphocytes

**Semantic type:** Cell|Pharmacologic Substance

**Definition:** A preparation of genetically modified allogeneic T-cells expressing a chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) directed against cluster of differentiation 5 (CD5) and linked to the co-stimulatory signaling domains CD28 and the zeta chain of the TCR/CD3 complex (CD3-zeta) (CD28zeta), with potential immunomodulating and antineoplastic activities. Upon administration, the allogeneic anti-CD5 CAR-CD28zeta T-lymphocytes target and bind to CD5-expressing tumor cells, thereby inducing selective cytotoxicity in CD5-expressing tumor cells. CD5 is a T-cell surface glycoprotein expressed on the surface of normal T-cells and overexpressed on various B- and T-cell malignancies.
