**Semantic type:** Bacterium|Pharmacologic Substance
**Definition:** An orally bioavailable formulation composed of eight nonpathogenic, nontoxigenic, commensal strains of Clostridia derived from healthy human stool samples and manufactured from clonal cell banks, for the potential prevention of recurrent Clostridium difficile (C. difficile) infections. Upon oral administration of the Clostridia strain formulation VE303, the microbiota populates the gastrointestinal (GI) tract. The transplanted microbiota allows re-population of the patient's microbiome with diverse protective microorganisms that competitively exclude C. difficile.
