Zamubafusp Alfa
**Semantic type:** Pharmacologic Substance
**Definition:** A recombinant fusion protein composed of a humanized immunoglobulin G1 kappa (IgG1k) monoclonal antibody genetically fused with the pan-amyloid binding peptide p5R, with potential use in the treatment of systemic amyloidosis. Upon administration of zamubafusp alfa, the pan-amyloid binding peptide p5R targets and binds to two ubiquitous components, amyloid fibrils and highly sulfated heparan sulfate glycans, of all amyloids, and the Fc region of the antibody stimulates the immune system to remove the bound amyloid deposits. This leads to macrophage-mediated phagocytosis and the clearance of amyloid deposits, which may reduce the accumulation of amyloid fibrils and improve organ function in systemic amyloidosis.
**Synonyms:** - AT 02 - AT-02 - AT02 - ZAMUBAFUSP ALFA
