**Definition:** A melanocytic nevus that arises from the skin or conjunctiva. In the skin, it is characterized by the presence of a junctional proliferation of nevus cells without involvement of the dermis. In the conjunctiva, it is characterized by an intraepithelial proliferation of nevus cells.
