**Definition:** A diverse group of small viruses in the Anelloviridae family with a single-stranded circular, negative sense DNA genome and wide host range. They make up a significant part of the normal mammalian virome, but may be found in increased levels in immunosuppressed or otherwise immunocompromised patients.
