CLDN6 RNA-LPX Vaccine

**Semantic type:** Immunologic Factor|Pharmacologic Substance

**Definition:** A RNA-lipoplex (RNA-LPX)-based cancer vaccine containing messenger RNA (RNA) encoding for the tumor-associated antigen (TAA) claudin 6 (CLDN6; CLDN-6), encapsulated in liposomes, with potential immunomodulating and antineoplastic activities. Upon administration of CLDN6 RNA-LPX vaccine, the RNA-LPX is taken up by antigen-presenting cells (APCs), especially dendritic cells (DCs). Upon uptake, the antigen is translated, processed, and presented to the immune system. This results in the induction of antigen-specific CD8+ and CD4+ T-cell responses against CLDN6. CLDN6, a transmembrane tight-junction protein and embryonic antigen, is overexpressed on a variety of tumor cells but is not expressed on normal, healthy adult cells.

**Synonyms:** - CLDN6 RNA-LPX - CLDN6 Ribonucleic Acid-Lipoplex - CLDN6 mRNA Vaccine
