Luvesilocin
**Semantic type:** Pharmacologic Substance
**Definition:** A prodrug ester form of the synthetic 5-hydroxytryptamine 2A receptor (5-HT2A) agonist 4-hydroxy-N,N-diisopropyltryptamine (4-OH-DiPT), composed of a glutarate moiety linked to the phenolic functional group of 4-OH-DiPT, with potential psychedelic, anxiolytic and antidepressant activities. Upon administration of luvesilocin, the glutarate moiety is cleaved and the active moiety 4-OH-DiPT is released. 4-OH-DiPT activates serotonin 2A (5-HT2A) receptors in the central nervous system (CNS), mimicking the effects of serotonin, which may reduce depressive symptoms.
