Minibeam Radiation Therapy

**Semantic type:** Therapeutic or Preventive Procedure

**Definition:** An application of beam radiation therapy that delivers a non-uniform dose consisting of alternating regions of high "peak" and low "valley" doses. It uses kiloelectron volt (keV) energy x-rays and collimators with narrow slits. Reducing the width of the irradiated regions increases the tolerance of normal tissue to peak dose.
