Cerebral Perfusion Pressure Monitoring

**Definition:** A surgical procedure used to monitor adequate blood flow to the brain for patients with either intracranial pathology or hemodynamic distress. Cerebral perfusion pressure is the difference between the mean arterial pressure, measured directly through hemodynamic means or indirectly using a blood pressure cuff, and the intracranial perfusion pressure, measured by a pressure-sensitive probe that is inserted through the skull.
