**Definition:** An auscultated finding describing a high pitched sound that occurs after the first heart sound (S1) and corresponds to the moment of maximal opening of the aortic or pulmonary valves. It may signify the presence of a dilated aorta or pulmonary artery or the presence of a bicuspid or flexible stenotic aortic or pulmonary valve.
