**Definition:** Venography involving the injection of contrast dye into a catheter inserted into the hepatic vein to assess the blood flow in the venous system of the liver. At the same time, a balloon attached to the external end of the catheter is inflated and deflated to measure the wedge hepatic venous pressure (WHVP) and free hepatic venous pressure (FHVP), respectively.
