Taenia serialis Infection

**Definition:** A parasitic infection involving the cestode Taenia serialis. In humans T. serialis does not mature to the tapeworm stage but, after accidental ingestion of cestode eggs, the metacestode larval form (coenurus or bladder worms) can invade and form cysts in the muscles, brain, eye or subcutaneous tissues.
