Lung Cancer by AJCC v9 Stage

**Definition:** A term that refers to the staging of lung cancer, following the rules of the TNM AJCC v9 classification system. This staging system applies to carcinomas of the lung, including non-small cell and small cell carcinomas, and bronchopulmonary carcinoid (neuroendocrine) tumors. It does not apply to sarcomas or other rare tumors of the lung. Sarcomas of the lung are staged according to soft tissue sarcomas of the abdomen and thoracic visceral organs. There is no AJCC staging system for other rare tumors of the lung. (AJCC 9th Ed.)
