**Definition:** Human NNT wild-type allele is located in the vicinity of 5p12 and is approximately 105 kb in length. This allele, which encodes NAD(P) transhydrogenase, mitochondrial protein, is involved in proton translocation across the inner mitochondrial membrane that is coupled to the metabolism of nicotinamide nucleotides. Mutations in the gene are associated with glucocorticoid deficiency 4, with or without mineralocorticoid deficiency.
