**Definition:** An orally bioavailable inhibitor of the serine/threonine protein kinase AKT (protein kinase B; v-akt murine thymoma viral oncogene homolog 1) isoform 1, with potential antineoplastic activity. Upon oral administration, AKT1 inhibitor TER-2013 selectively targets, binds to and inhibits AKT1. This inhibits cellular proliferation of and induces apoptosis in AKT1-driven cancers. AKT1, overexpressed in a variety of cancer cell types, drives cancer cell proliferation.
