**Definition:** Human TSEN54 wild-type allele is located in the vicinity of 17q25.1 and is approximately 9 kb in length. This allele, which encodes tRNA-splicing endonuclease subunit Sen54 protein, is involved in pre-tRNA splicing and pre-mRNA 3'-end modification. Mutations in the gene are associated with pontocerebellar hypoplasia types 2A, 4 and 5.
