**Definition:** Human PTGER2 wild-type allele is located in the vicinity of 14q22.1 and is approximately 16 kb in length. This allele, which encodes prostaglandin E2 receptor EP2 subtype protein, is involved in cellular signaling and prostaglandin E2 binding. Mutations in the gene are associated with aspirin-induced susceptibility to asthma. Overexpression of the gene is associated with certain types of cancers.
