**Definition:** Human HCN4 wild-type allele is located in the vicinity of 15q24.1 and is approximately 49 kb in length. This allele, which encodes potassium/sodium hyperpolarization-activated cyclic nucleotide-gated channel 4 protein, is involved in the regulation of cation currents in the heart and in neurons. Mutations in the gene are associated with Brugada syndrome 8, sick sinus syndrome 2 and idiopathic generalized epilepsy 18.
