**Definition:** A term that refers to the staging of salivary gland cancer according to the American Joint Committee on Cancer, 9th edition. This staging applies to cancers arising in the major and minor salivary glands. The following histopathologic types are not included in this staging system: squamous cell carcinoma, neuroendocrine carcinoma, basosquamous cell carcinoma, lymphoma, sarcoma, and mucosal melanoma.
