**Definition:** Human AIFM2 wild-type allele is located in the vicinity of 10q22.1 and is approximately 36 kb in length. This allele, which encodes ferroptosis suppressor protein 1, is involved in the regulation of ferroptosis and mitochondrial stress signaling. Expression of this gene may be a prognostic marker for disease progression and poorer survival in patients with lung adenocarcinoma.
