**Definition:** Acetyl-CoA carboxylase 2 (2458 aa, ~277 kDa) is encoded by the human ACACB gene. This protein plays a role in binding to and ATP-dependent carboxylation of biotin, followed by transfer of the carboxyl group from biotin to acetyl-CoA that yields malonyl-CoA.
