**Definition:** Human TEX15 wild-type allele is located in the vicinity of 8p12 and is approximately 81 kb in length. This allele, which encodes testis-expressed protein 15, plays a role in chromosome synapsis, meiotic recombination and transposon silencing during spermatogenesis. Loss of function mutations in the gene are associated with spermatogenic failure 25, characterized by severe oligozoospermia or nonobstructive azoospermia.
