Step-Through Inhibitory Avoidance Task Method

**Definition:** A passive avoidance method that evaluates learning and memory in which the subject is placed in a box containing two compartments (one light and one dark) separated by a sliding door. The dark compartment also contains an unconditioned stimulus such as an electrified floor. Latency (time) to cross from the light compartment to the dark compartment is measured.
