Anti-EGFR Monoclonal Antibody EMD 55900
**Semantic type:** Amino Acid, Peptide, or Protein|Immunologic Factor|Pharmacologic Substance
**Definition:** A murine monoclonal antibody targeting the epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) exhibiting anti-tumor activity. EMD 55900 antibody binds to the extracellular domain of EGFR close to the EGF binding domain and does not induce any tyrosine kinase activity on its own. As a result, EMD 55900 binding inhibits receptor activation by natural ligands thereby interrupting activation of downstream signaling cascade, required for tumor cell growth and proliferation.
**Synonyms:** - EMD 55 900 - EMD 55900 - Mab 425 - Monoclonal Antibody 425
