**Definition:** DNA that encodes granulocyte-macrophage colony stimulating factor (GM-CSF). GM-CSF enhances the host immune response to poorly immunogenic tumors, possibly by activating T-cell and macrophage anti-tumor responses, and, so, decreasing tumor growth. (NCI04)
