**Definition:** A combination preparation of the analgesic and antipyretic acetaminophen and the semisynthetic opioid agonist oxycodone with analgesic and antitussive properties. Acetaminophen exerts its analgesic activity by inhibiting prostaglandin synthesis, while oxycodone exerts its analgesic activity by binding to the mu-receptors in the central nervous system (CNS), thereby mimicking the effects of endogenous opioids.
