TNF Gene Transduced TIL

**Definition:** Tumor infiltrating lymphocytes (TIL) that are genetically modified in vitro to express the protein cytokine tumor necrosis factor (TNF) with potential antineoplastic activity. After isolation from the patient and genetic modification, TNF gene-transduced TIL are transferred back to the same patient in an attempt to deliver cytotoxic TNF selectively to the tumor microenvironment, thereby potentially avoiding TNF-related systemic toxicity.
