**Definition:** An arterial segment arising from the abdominal aorta that supplies blood to the abdominal organs, other structures, genitalia and the lower limbs. The aortic branches include terminal branches called the common iliac arteries, the celiac artery, the superior mesenteric artery, the inferior mesenteric artery, the renal arteries, the suprarenal arteries, the testicular (internal spermatic) arteries, the ovarian arteries, the inferior phrenic arteries, lumbar arteries and the middle sacral artery.
