Collecting Tube

**Definition:** The final section of a renal tubule in the nephron between the distal convoluted tubule and the ureter comprising of principal and intercalated cells. The collecting tube acts to reabsorb sodium and water while secreting potassium and maintaining acid-base homeostasis.
