Gray Matter of the Spinal Cord

**Definition:** The nervous tissue found in that part of the central nervous system that is lodged in the vertebral canal. It contains fewer myelinated fibers, but more nerve cell bodies, unmyelinated nerve fibers and blood vessels than the white matter.
