Podocyte

**Semantic type:** Cell

**Definition:** A modified epithelial cell of the capsular epithelium of the renal glomerulus. It has a small perikaryon and a number of primary and secondary foot-like radiating processes (pedicels) that interdigitate with those of other podocytes and embrace the basal lamina of glomerular capillaries.
